CALCIUM IN ALOE VERA

Did you know that there is calcium in Aloe Vera, along with a number of other minerals? I didn’t, until I investigated its content. So I thought I’d share these findings with you, as it seems to me quite remarkable that one plant can contain so much that is good for us.

By ‘us’ I am of course referring to humans and animals! If you’re wondering about those ‘other’ minerals, here are the main ones: magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper, chromium, sodium, potassium and iron.

Aloe Barbadensis Miller (the only type entitled to be known as aloe vera, or the true aloe) also contains:

  • a wide range of vitamins, including Vitamin B12
  • amino acids (19 of the 20 required by the human body)
  • sugars (including the long chain polysaccharides which boost the immune system)
  • enzymes
  • plant sterols (3 of which are powerful anti-inflammatory agents)
  • saponins (which have a strong anti-microbial effect on bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeasts – e.g. candida or ‘thrush’)
  • anthraquinones (collectively, strong painkillers)
  • salycylic acid (anti-inflammatory)
  • lignin (enables Aloe Vera to reach deep into the skin)
  • Are you yet as impressed as I am by this 'Miracle Plant'?
