HOW TO GROW ALOE VERA
So you're wondering how to grow aloe vera? Well, Forever Living grow most of theirs in the hot, dry climate of the Dominican Republic. There they have a plantation of over 5000 acres - stretching farther than the eye can see. They only grow Aloe Barbadensis Miller (known as the most potent healer), harvesting and filleting the leaves by hand. What, though, if like me you don't live somewhere suitably hot and dry?
HOW DO I GROW ALOE?Well, while I do know of an Aloe plantation in South West England, the risk of frost and wet rot stops me from attempting the feat of planting Aloe Vera out in my garden. So it's highly unlikely that I'll ever try to rival Forever with my Aloe crop! My first (indoor) planting was from a small 'pup' given to me by a friend. She said to pop it into a pot filled with moist compost - so that's what I did. Placed on my windowsill, it soon grew quite big and started to produce its own 'pups' - some of which I re-potted and kept, while giving the rest to friends. I won't pretend to be 'green-fingered' and yet I've had no problems finding out first-hand how to grow aloe vera. So I doubt you'll have problems either! By the way, you can certainly save money by breaking leaves off your plant and using the inner gel to soothe burns, bites, stings and various skin conditions. But why mutilate the poor thing when Forever bring us the highest quality aloe vera gelly in this convenient tube? I certainly prefer Forever's to my own aloe manufacture ...
